THE DOUBLE E DIET, Part 4

By Dr. Saul Shaye

(The following dietary recommendations are not for people who live to eat. They are for people who want to feel better, have less pain and discomfort with their bodies, and have more energy.)

THE BASIC DIET

1. Fruit eaten by itself 2-4 times a day

2. Nuts eaten by themselves once a day (too many nuts can be fattening because of their high calorie content but once a day by itself 4-6 oz. should be fine. Individuals may have to experiment over time to see how much nuts they can consume on a daily basis and not gain extra weight).

3. One or two meals per day with the total amount of animal product being 4 oz. or less (meaning from beef, pork, chicken, fish, eggs) and 4 oz. or less cheese for the whole day and as much green vegetables as you want per meal. I’ve been eating this way for years so my normal amount of cooked vegetables per meal is about 50-60 oz. of spinach, green beans and stewed tomatoes or some similar combination. This can be a raw salad meal also with thin strips of meats on top. You can also utilize spices and seasoning as this usually doesn’t affect digestion and elimination.

4. The first three are what to eat. Now let’s discuss what not to eat or experiment with once you’ve experienced easy elimination. You should eliminate or dramatically cut back on the amount of breads, flour or grain products, refined sugars and salt unless you can demonstrate to yourself that you can tolerate that food and still have very easy elimination.

Yes

Fruits

Fruit by itself, an absolute must for humans to have easy elimination

Vegetables (green only , with meat meals, or starch vegetables like potatoes)   with green vegetable meals

Beans, legumes, lentils (i.e. Pinto beans, lima beans, black or red beans, kidney beans, etc.)

Nuts and seeds

Spices and seasoning

4 oz. total meat portion Per day

4 oz. total cheese per day

(a lot of people can’t digest Cheese at all - only you can Determine)

No

Flour and grains, unless you demonstrate to yourself that you can digest and eliminate easily

Refined sugar and sugar products,  unless you can demonstrate to yourself that you can digest and eliminate easily

More than 4 oz. meat per day  (some may be able to digest more, some less)

More than 4 oz. cheese Per day.

This dietary recommendation may not be applicable for a lot of people but for those who want to experience greater degrees of well-being and have the will power to try it they may find themselves very pleasantly surprised and might find their lives a lot more enjoyable. You can make some wonderful meals with what’s listed in the yes group.

Remind yourself how we came to the present over thousands of years. First eating to survive and then eating for taste. Why not do all three at the same time. Eat to survive, have it taste good, and be healthy for you all together. Let your body tell you what works well for you and does all three. Let the Double E Diet give you the will power to accomplish your desires to have it all.

I enjoy eating. Remember how a cool glass of water was after working in the hot sun for many hours? It was wonderful. That’s how you should be able to enjoy your food and still be able to stay healthy for the long term.
