THE DOUBLE E DIET, Part 2

By Dr. Saul Shaye

(The following dietary recommendations are not for people who live to eat. They are for people who want to feel better, have less pain and discomfort with their bodies, and have more energy.)

For thousands of years people have made eating an art form but probably the most dramatic changes have occurred in the last 100 years. There are cook books on every conceivable type of food (soups, breads, deserts, Italian, Mexican, French, etc. etc.). As I drive around almost any town I see the signs advertising tacos, pizza, hamburgers, barbeque, etc. We have made eating entertainment and pleasurable to the extreme, but have we gone too far? What is the purpose of eating? Obviously it is to sustain life while we’re in this physical body. There is no problem with eating being enjoyable, but what if we’re putting pleasure over health?

People are primates. That’s a biological fact. How do primates eat in the wild? Primates are scattered all over the globe, but there are some generalizations. The primate diet is mostly (90-95%) vegetarian, with a little of animal consumption when obtainable.

I’ve been doing food combining for years as I seem to digest and absorb foods very easy doing it that way. This basically means eating proteins (meats) with a large portion of green vegetables 1-2 times a day with fruit or nuts being a meal or snack 1-2 times a day. Recently I had the thought could I achieve even easier elimination and be consistent all the time? What would I have to do? I was already eating about as much green vegetables and fruit as possible without overeating. I wondered, “Could there be an optimum amount of meat consumption per day that would allow the body to function at its easiest elimination (Double E) possible?” I started experimenting and found that if my meat consumption was 4 oz. or less per day and still did the food combining that elimination was very easy with absolutely no strain.

When we watch nature channels we are always seeing animals train their young to survive in the wild. So you probably learned from your parents about normal bowel movements? No. Then it was probably from your teachers at school? No. Then surely it was from your Doctors as you got older? No. It’s amazing to me that something so fundamental to our well being was never discussed because it’s too embarrassing or was a social moray not to discuss.

The number of people who have difficulty with bowel movements (meaning straining, tearing, irritating blood vessels in the anal region, straining so hard holding their breath that they feel like they may pass out, etc.) must be tremendous. What if there was a way that these people could be helped without numerous elimination variables like adding extra fiber or taking laxatives? Would some people be willing to try it? I believe a large number of people would if they knew how. Imagine having very easy elimination with absolutely no strain. Imagine passing a large bowel movement and not knowing until you looked because it felt like a tiny amount. I believe this is the way that God and nature designed our bodies to work.

Stay tuned to Week 3: The recommendations
